About

Juicy Red Apple was the magazine that promoted Australia’s dance party scene through the 1990s, a decade when the country’s underground party culture was exploding, and this was the paper trail it left behind. Flyers, lineups, party reviews, and the odd bit of scandal, all bound together with a stack of attitude.

The magazine was edited by Kate Turnbull, with art direction from DJ Spellbound, whose visual style gave Juicy Red Apple its unmistakable look — loud, colourful, and unapologetically of its time.

This site is a home for every edition we could dig out of the archives: the flyers, the photos, the interviews, and everything else that made it onto the page back then. In 2025, we put together a special digital edition, a one-off issue built for the site, revisiting the era for anyone who was there and introducing it to anyone who wasn’t.

Have a flick through. It’s all still juicy.
